TWIST

Twist is an enlargement of a piece from the Rhythms of Geometry series of 2013, and a basic component of other, more complex shapes. It is formed by the repetition of a geometric solid I call Phi Penta Solid.

This shape illustrates the Golden ratio. The four-sided planes of the solids have edges whose relationship to each other hold that ratio and the joining of five of these solids in sequential scale makes a simple spiral. It’s coloring, in the blue/green spectrum, has an undercoating of several layers, in varying colors, and is partially sanded back, giving the long process of decay and rust a little head start. As it continues to age and reveal greater depth of texture and color.

The original Twist is a tabletop size piece in cast bronze. It’s an edition of 5.
